Grass X Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Grass X (“the App”, “we”, “us”) collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Grass X (listed on the App Store as “Grass Identifier: Grass X Scan”) is developed by Pixel Perfect Software Solutions.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information you provide

  • Account details: your email address, name, and profile photo when you sign up with email, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In.
  • Lawn photos: images you take or choose from your photo library for grass identification, lawn health scoring, disease, weed and pest diagnosis, and soil test reading.
  • Lawn profile: grass type, lawn size, location, watering habits, treatment history, and the products you tell us you use, so recommendations fit your lawn.
  • AI chat messages: the questions you send to the in-app lawn care AI expert, and the answers it returns.
  • Plan and tasks: your lawn care schedule, completed and skipped tasks, and the watering you log.
  • Messages to us: anything you include when you contact support.

2. Information collected automatically

  • Approximate location: when you allow location access, the App requests a low-accuracy (approximate) position to fetch local weather, rainfall and climate data (growing season, frost dates, soil temperature) for your plan. You can decline location access and enter your location manually instead.
  • Usage and diagnostic data: how you move through the App’s screens and interact with them, recorded with Microsoft Clarity to find bugs and improve the App. On-screen text and images are masked in these recordings. We do not use Clarity to track you across other companies’ apps or websites, or for advertising.
  • Notification token: the App registers with Expo’s push notification service to receive a notification token. Lawn care reminders are scheduled on your device.
  • Subscription status: which plan you are on and when it renews. We never receive your card number or payment details.

3. How we use your information

  • To identify your grass type, diagnose lawn problems, and score lawn health from your photos.
  • To build and update your lawn care schedule, and to send reminders for mowing, watering, fertilizing and treatments.
  • To answer your questions in the AI chat, using your saved lawn profile as context so you do not have to repeat your grass type or location.
  • To manage your account, your subscription, and your AI usage credits.
  • To keep the App working, fix bugs, and improve features.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. How AI is used, and who processes your photos and messages

Grass X uses a third-party AI provider to analyze photos and answer chat messages. When you analyze a photo or send a chat message, that photo and message, together with the lawn details needed to answer (such as grass type, location and climate), are sent to OpenAI through a server function we operate on Amazon Web Services (AWS). OpenAI processes this data to return the result you see. Under OpenAI’s API terms, data sent through its API is not used to train OpenAI’s models by default.

AI results can be wrong. See our Terms of Use for details.

5. Service providers we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that run the App:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Pixel Perfect Software Solutions, our users, or the public.

6. How photos are stored

Lawn photos are stored in cloud storage under an unlisted web address that includes a random account identifier. The address is not published or searchable, but anyone who has the exact link can open the image. This link is also how the photo is passed to OpenAI for analysis.

7. Data retention and deletion

  • We keep your data while your account is active, so your lawn history, analyses and plan stay available.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the App: Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your login, lawn profile, analyses, plan and tasks, chat history, weather records and usage data. It cannot be undone.
  • Lawn photo files: photo files held in cloud storage are not always removed automatically when an account is deleted. If you want your stored photo files removed, email us at the address below and we will delete them.
  • Subscription records held by Apple, Google and Adapty are kept under their own retention policies, and we may keep records we are legally required to keep (for example, to resolve a payment dispute).
  • You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing us (see Contact us).

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time.

  • EU, EEA and UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): we process your data to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract), with your consent (location, photos, notifications), and for our legitimate interest in keeping the App secure and working (analytics). You may complain to your local data protection authority.
  • California (CCPA / CPRA): you have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Most of these rights can be exercised directly in the App (Settings and Delete Account). For anything else, email us. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children

Grass X is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

Our service providers may process and store data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses offered by those providers.

11. Security

We use encryption in transit and per-user access controls on our database to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above, and may announce significant changes in the App.
